2. In short
Twiggo needs no account, shows no ads, has no purchases and uses no analytics or tracking services. Your progress and settings stay on your device. Only for the ghosts does the app send anonymous gameplay data to our server – you can switch this off on the title screen (section 4).
3. Data on your device
Levels reached, stars, collected nuts, your settings (music, ghosts) and a random identifier are stored only on your device. We do not receive this data. If you delete the app, it is gone.
4. Ghosts (briefly seeing other players)
During a level, a white ghost figure sometimes flits past: the path of another player at the same spot. For this, while ghosts are switched on (default), the app sends to our ghost server:
- a random 12-character identifier created by the app on first start. It is not linked to your device, an account, a name or a phone number;
- the level and the day the tree belongs to;
- the path played: position, pose and facing direction of the squirrel (5 times per second) and the duration.
The app sends no names, no texts, no photos and no location. Other players only see the white figure. The server deletes live paths after a few seconds and finished runs after 24 hours.
As with any internet connection, your IP address is transmitted for technical reasons. Our server uses it only briefly in memory to fend off too many requests and does not store it; requests to the ghost server are not logged. The server is located in a data centre in Frankfurt am Main (Germany).
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the game feature (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The data cannot be linked to a person. You can object at any time by choosing “Ghosts: off” on the title screen – the app then sends nothing at all.
5. Children
Twiggo is also meant for children. The app asks for no personal data: no name, no age, no contact details, no location. Parents can switch off the ghosts on the title screen. The app contains no links to the outside, no ads and no purchases.
6. App Store and Google Play
The privacy policies of Apple or Google apply to the download. From them we only receive aggregated figures (for example downloads and crash reports not linked to a person).
7. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Rhineland-Palatinate. As we cannot link ghost data to a person, we usually cannot look it up individually; it is deleted after 24 hours anyway. Questions are welcome at info@visionwerk.de.
8. Changes
If the app changes, we will update this policy. The current version applies.
